Turkey's parliament late Thursday passed legislation approving the transit of the European Union-backed Nabucco gas pipeline project, which aims to transport gas in the Caspian SeaMiddle East, through Turkeythe Balkan States.
The Nabucco consortium consists of Austria's OMV AG (OMV.VI), Germany's RWE AG (RWE.XE), Turkey's Botas, Bulgaria's Bulgargaz, Romania's TransgazHungary's MOL Nyrt. (MOL.BU).
Last July, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, HungaryAustria sealed the Nabucco pipeline contract, the first step toward building the 3,300-kilometer oil pipeline capable of transferring Caspian gas to Europe,bypassing Russia.
