epa02124017 An undated handout picture made available on 19 April 2010released by the Johor National Parks Corporation, Department of WildlifeNational Parks, PantheraWildlife Conservation Society via Wildlife Conservation Society-Malaysia Program shows a spotted gold leopard at Endau-Rompin National Park in the Malaysia's southern state of Johor. Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) Malaysia programme director Dr Melvin T. Gumal said researchers managed to capture images of a male spotted gold leopard in December last year at the Endau-Rompin National Park, the first such documentation of the animal's existence in Malaysia. Leopards were spotted gold when they first arrived here some 150,000 years ago but as discovered by conservation biologist Dr Kae Kawanishi in 2001, 99 per cent were black coated due to evolutionary process called the "fixation of the recessive gene". "Previously, we only heard of sightings of these animals but we now have documented proof that they exist," he said as reported by Bernama news agency.  EPA/WILDLIFE CONSERVATION SOCIETY / HANDOUT **BESAT QUALITY AVAILABLE** EDITORIAL USE ONLY/NO SALES
