Turkish state-run electricity producer Elektrik Uretim AS, or EUAS, has signed a nuclear energy cooperation deal with Korea Electric Power Corp., or Kepco, (KEP) of South Korea, Turkish Energy Ministry said Wednesday.

The deal will include co-operation with South Korea on Turkey's Sinop nuclear plant project on the Black Sea coast.

Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz said Wednesday that the government has a wishdetermination to build a nuclear power plant at Sinop, in the north of the country.

The plant in the Black Sea city of Sinop would be Turkey's second nuclear station after Akkuyu.

A consortium comprising Russian companies AtomstroyexportOAO INTER RAO EES (IRAO.RS)Turkish company Park Teknik was the sole bidder in the tender to buildoperate a 4,000-megawatt nuclear power station in Akkuyu, near the Turkish Mediterranean port of Mersin.

However, Nov. 20, 2009, Turkish state-run power provider Tetas canceled a tender to buildoperate the power station.
