Update: Turkey's Is Bank 2009 Net Profıt Up 51%

Turkish private lender Is Bank (ISCTR.IS) said late Monday its 2009 consolidated net profit increased 51% on the year to 2.75 billion Turkish liras ($1.81 billion).


The bank's net profit was TRY1.82 billion in 2008.

In a statement, the bank said the rise in net profit mainly stemmed from rising net interest income.

The bank's net interest income rose to TRY5.7 billion in 2009 from TRY4.5 billion a year earlier, while its net operating profit increased to TRY3.36 billion from TRY2.22 billion.

The bank's assets totaled TRY72.05 billion in 2009, compared with TRY62.99 billion a year earlier.
