Turkısh Aırlınes '09 Net Pft Falls To Try559.1m
International carrier Turkish Airlines (THYAO.IS), or THY, said late Monday its net profit fell to 559.1 million lira ($369.5 million) in 2009 from TRY1.134 billion in 2008.
In a statement to the stock exchange, Turkish Airlines didn't mention a reason for the fall, but marketing, salesdistribution costs rose to TRY806.5 million from TRY635.9 million during the same period.
Revenue fell to TRY173 million in 2009 from TRY1.428 billion a year earlier.
The company's sales rose to TRY7.036 billion from TRY6.123 billion a year earlier, while cost of sales also rose to TRY5.136 billion from TRY4.543 billion.
THY's operating profit rose to TRY723.9 million in 2009 from TRY587.4 million a year earlier.
