Turkey May Industrıal Productıon Up 15.6% On Year
Turkish industrial production grew more than expected in May, rising 15.6% in annual terms, data from the national statistics institute TUIK showed Thursday.
Economists had expected industrial production to increase 15.0% in May.
In monthly terms, industrial production rose 3.7% in May.
Manufacturing output increased an annual 16.5%, electricity, gaswater output rose 9.4%, while mining industry production surged 13.3%.
In 2009 as a whole, Turkish industrial production fell 9.6% on the year.
TUIK revised its April industrial production figure to a rise of 17.3% in annual terms, from a rise of 17.0% previously.
It also revised its April industrial production figure to a fall of 2.1% in monthly terms, from a fall of 2.3%.
