Bollywood starsSri Lankan cricketers played a celebrity cricket match to raise funds for reintegrating former child soldiers into their communities. Indian stars pitched their cricketing talents against Sri Lanka cricketers, which was one of the key features of the International Indian Film Awards being held this weekend at the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) grounds in Colombo. A UNICEF initiative ?Cricket for Children? will receive the major part of the proceeds which in turn will be utilized to assist former separatist child soldiersother vulnerable children who have been rehabilitatedtrained as cricket peer leaders as part of a partnership between the International Cricket Council, Sri Lanka CricketUNICEF. Apart from this, Sri Lanka hopes to make use of the event, with an estimated 600 million viewers in Indiatelevised in 110 countries, as a promotion of the island as an attractive tourist destination.
