Tourists Visiting Turkey Up 15.77% On Year In May
The number of tourists visiting Turkey rose in May compared with a year earlier, increasing by 15.77% to 3.14 million from 2.71 million, the culturetourism ministry said Wednesday.
Tourist arrivals were mainly from Germany, followed by Russiathe U.K.
In the January to May period, tourist numbers rose 10.14% to 8.070 million from 7.32 million in the corresponding period of 2009.
In 2009 as a whole, some 27.1 million tourists visited Turkey, up 2.8% from 2008. However, revenue from tourism fell to $21.2 billion in 2009 from $22 billion in 2008.
