Turkey March Trade Defıcıt Doubles From Year Earlıer
The Turkish foreign trade deficit widened in March to $5.032 billion from $2.367 billion a year earlier, the Turkish Statistics Institute said Friday.
Provisional data from the statistics office showed exports rose 22.4% on the year to $9.985 billion, while imports increased 42.7% to $15.017 billion.
In the January-March period, exports rose 7.0% on the year to $26.2 billionimports rose 32.7% to $38.3 billion, causing the trade deficit to widen 175.3% to $12.125 billion.
In 2009 as a whole, exports fell 22.6% on the year to $102.2 billionimports were down 30.3% at $140.8 billion, causing the trade deficit to narrow 44.8% to $38.6 billion.
