The annual south-western monsoon has this time round struck the island nation with unexpectedly heavy downpours. With the entire island experiencing heavy rainfall, areas inaround Colomboin the central hill regions have experienced floodsearth slips. So far, over 300,000 persons have been affected by the monsoonal havoc, according to the government?s Disaster Management Centre,they are being provided all assistance.
