Turkey's Zıraat Bank 2009 Net Profıt Up 65% At Try3.51b

Turkish state-owned lender Ziraat Bankasi's net profit reached 3.51 billion Turkish lira ($2.27 billion) in 2009, the bank's chief executive said Thursday.


In 2008, the bank reported net profit of TRY2.13 billion.

In a press conference, Can Akin Caglar said the bank's total assets increased 19% on the year in 2009 to TRY125 billion.

The bank's deposits reached TRY98 billion in 2009, while its total loans amounted to TRY35.8 billion, he said.

Ziraat Bank is on the Turkish government's privatization list, along with Turkish public lenders Turkiye Halk Bankasi AS, or Halkbank (HALKB.IS),Vakiflar Bankasi TAO (VAKBN.IS).

The government has said it will complete HalkbankZiraat Bank's privatization by November.
