epa02190816 An undated handout picture provided by the Bibliotheque de l'Institut in Paris, France on 07 June 2010 shows a part of Rene Descartes's purloined letter that is to be returned to France on 09 June 2010. Stolen in the mid 1800s by an Italian mathematician, the letter, dated 27 May 1641, concerns the publication of Descartes's 'Meditations on First Philosophy,' a work whose use of reasonscientific methods helped to ignite a revolution in thought.
