epa02194291 Netherlands Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende announces his resignation from politics after the loss of the Christian Democrats Appeal (CDA) following the Dutch General Elections, in The Hague, Netherlands, on 09 June 2010. Jan Peter Balkenende resigned as his party head late 09 June 2010 after his Christian Democratic Appeal suffered defeat in parliamentary elections. Balkenende accepted full responsibility for the party?s poor showing, which saw it slide to 21 seats in parliament from 41.
