Tens of thousands of  Romanian public workers, teachersmedical personnel went on strike on 31 May as a reaction to wagespension cuts by the government, that is trying to meet the tight budget deficit target needed to get the 20 billion euro IMF-led loan. Romania's capital traffic was heavily congested at the morning rush hour, as about 600.000 inhabitants that usually get the subway were pushed to use their cars or alternative ways of transportation.  EPA/ROBERT GHEMENT
