Turkey Cancels Two Meat Import Tenders
Turkey has canceled two state tenders to import meat which were part of government aims to stem price rises in meatmeat products, the Agriculture Ministry said Friday.
Last month, the Turkish government authorized the state-owned MeatFish Institution to import live animalsmeat after the country's meat prices dramatically increased due to a growing shortage in live animals in the domestic market.
In a statement the Agriculture Ministry said it had canceled the two tenders held by the state-owned MeatFish Institution because free competition conditions weren't met.
Turkey will hold a new meat import tender as soon as possible, the ministry said.
