Britain?s new coalition government suffered its first major setback late 29 May 2010, as the Chief Secretary to the Treasury, David Laws, was forced to resign over an expenses scandal. Laws, a member of the junior Liberal Democrat coalition party, had only this week outlined 6-billion pound (8.7 billion dollar) public sector cuts, with billions of pounds more cuts expected at an emergency budget next month.  EPA/ANDY RAIN
