Turkey Aprıl Cash Defıcıt Try2.8b
The Turkish Treasury said Monday that it posted a cash deficit of 2.8 billion Turkish lira ($1.84 billion) in April after TRY6.2 billion in interest payments.
The treasury's cash balance registered a deficit of TRY513 million in April 2009.
The treasury said it posted a primary cash surplus before interest payments of TRY2.97 billion in April, compared with a TRY782 million surplus a year earlier.
In the January-April period, the treasury posted a primary cash surplus of TRY4.4 billion, compared with a deficit of TRY1.5 billion in the corresponding period last year.
The treasury's cash balance registered a deficit of TRY16.3 billion in January-April after TRY21.7 billion of interest payments, compared with a cash deficit of TRY19.2 billion a year earlier.
In 2009 as a whole, the treasury posted a cash deficit of TRY49.4 billion.
