The Minister for Defence, Senator the Hon John Faulkner, today commemorated Anzac Day at a dawn service with Australian troops in Tarin Kowt, Southern Afghanistan. Senator Faulkner was accompanied at the dawn service by the Vice-Chief of Defence Force, Lieutenant General David Hurley,soldiers from the First Mentoring Task Force currently serving at Tarin Kowt. Following the Dawn Service Senator Faulkner had breakfast with the soldiersparticipated in a traditional game of Two-Up. While in Afghanistan, Senator Faulkner also visited KabulKandahar. In Kabul, Senator Faulkner attended a number of meetings with senior ISAF, NATO,Australian personnel in the area, including the Australian Ambassador to Afghanistan, Mr Paul Foleythe Commander of ISAF Joint Command, Lieutenant General David Rodriguez (United States). In Kandahar, he met with Australian Defence Force personnel, including members from the Rotary Wing Groupthe Heron Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) detachment.
