Turkısh Regulator Launches Inıtal Turkcell Wıre-tap Probe

Turkey's InformationCommunication Technologies Authority, or BTK, said late Wednesday it has decided to launch an initial probe into the country's largest mobile phone operator by subscribers, Turkcell (TKC).

Turkcell is suspected of violating law of personal data privacy in an alleged wire-tapping case, the regulator said on its Web site.

Turkcell said in a statement that the initial probe was a routine procedurethe company was ready to cooperate with the investigators.
