Juan Antonio Samaranch, who transformed the ailing Olympics into a profitable business but also faced a huge corruption scandal during his 21-year reign as IOC president, died on 21 April. He was 89.  Samaranch, who presided over the IOC 1980-2001 as the most important figure in world sport, died in a Barcelona hospital from cardio-respiratory failure at 1.25 pm (1125 GMT), doctors said.  EPA/ALBERT OLIVE
