epa02121910 Thai anti government red shirt protesters fill the main road intersection as they listen to a leader speakas they occupy the upmarket shopping area of Ratchaprasong, forcing shops to close, in downtown Bangkok, Thailand, 18 April, 2010. The protesters are refusing to leave the areahave prepared forcesweapons ready to retaliate against a Thai army move to remove them. The stalemate comes after  10 April violence with the army which claimed 24 livesinjured over 800. Most of the protesters are supporters of coup ousted former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatraare calling on the current government led by Abhisit Vejjajiva to step downcall  new elections.  EPA/BARBARA WALTON
