epa02117992 A view, from east to west, of the U-shaped Panathinaiko stadium, in downtown Athens, on 15 April 2010. The venue was reopened to the public this week. The all-marble stadium was reconstructed on the spot of an archaeological site ahead of the first modern Olympics, the 1896 Athens Games.
