Correct: Turkey Posts Try5.9b March Budget Gap Says Mınıster
Turkey posted an overall budget deficit of 5.9 billion Turkish lira ($3.95 billion) in March, Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek said Tuesday.
The primary budget deficit, which excludes interest payments on outstanding debt, was TRY1.6 billion in March, Simsek said.
In the January-March period, the country posted an overall budget deficit of TRY11.3 billiona primary budget surplus of TRY3.7 billion, the minister said.
The Turkish government previously said it was targeting a TRY50 billion budget deficit for 2010 under the country's new medium-term economic program.
The overall budget deficit was TRY52.2 billion last year.
