Turkey Hasn't Invıted Imf For Routıne Control - Report

Turkey hasn't invited the International Monetary Fund officials for a routine economic inspection, the Star newspaper reported Monday without citing sources.

Turkey has been in talks with the IMF for a new standby loan since a previous $10 billion loan agreement expired in May 2008.

Turkish business leaders have been urging the government to sign a new agreement with the IMF immediately, criticizing it for being "unnecessarily" slow.

According to the newspaper, the IMF is waiting for an invitation to send its officials to Turkey as part of a routine economic inspection that it conducts on all its members.

The daily also said an increasing number of government officials are against an agreement with the fund.
